Tour Overview
The Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre was founded in 1964 to rehabilitate orphaned Orang Utans. The site consists of 45sq. km of protected land at the edge of the Kabili Sepilok Forrest Reserve. The facility provides medical care for orphaned Orang Utans as well as other wildlife species including sun bears, gibbons, sumatran rhinos and the occasional injured pygmy elephant. At the Centre, a buddy system is used to replace the natural teaching of a mother, by pairing a younger Orang Utan with an older one to help develop the skills it would need to survive when reintroduced into the wild. The Centre believes that the message of conservation must be spread and it is open to visitors daily. The Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary offers another perfect Proboscis monkeys observation spot for any tourist who wants to have a closer look at these very special monkey especially those who do not have the time to travel too far away to watch them. The Sanctuary is located at the center of the mangrove forest along the coastal land near Samawang Village in Labuk Bay, Sandakan, Sabah. From the airport, it is 38km away and takes about an hour to get there. Part of the trip will be through the graveled roads through plantation estates.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Visit Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary
- Pickup from hotel lobby/ resort lounge send to Kota Kinabalu Airport (recommended flight ETD 0700hrs) and depart for Sandakan.
- Once arrive at Sandakan Airport, you will be mey by guide and transferred to Sabah Hotel to check-in.
- In the afternoon, proceed to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary.
- We will trek to witness the feeding of the Proboscis Monkeys and the elussilver leaf langurs at the sanctuary. Return to hotel for overnight.
Day 2
Visit Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre
- After breakfast, transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre.
- We proceed to watch a video show about the plight of the Orang Utans and the rehabilitation efforts ongoing at the center.
- Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the Orang Utans at 1000hrs, and then we continue to the newly completed enclosed nursery area for young Orang Utans.
- Thereafter visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about conservation of the world’s smallest bear.
- After lunch, we will proceed to airport for the 1430hrs flight to Kota Kinabalu.
- For those taking the evening flight, we will have a chance to visit Rainforest Discovery Centre.
- Take a birds eye view of the centre from the canopy walk and hanging bridge, explore the botanical garden, home to various species of flora.
- Proceed to Sandakan Memorial Park for a short visit before taking the flight (recommended ETD 1800hrs).
- Once arrive, you will met by our representative and transferred to hotel/ resort lounge.
Important Notes:
In accordance to the Malaysia Tourism Tax Act 2017, with effect from 1st Sep 2017, all foreign tourists/Non Malaysians will be changed a flat rate of MYR 10 per person per night in any registered tourist accommodation premises and this is collected directly by the hotels/ resorts/ lodge upon check in. The Tourism Tax (TTx) is mandatory under Malaysian Law. Tourism Tax is not included in all tour package.)
