Tour Overview

Thrill-seekers looking for a bit of a challenge will revel in the rollicking trip down the raging Padas River, as this swift-moving body of water is between grade 3 and 4 on the International Scale of River Difficulty. Situated southwest from Kota Kinabalu near the town Beaufort, Padas River is uniquely accessible only by railway. Come expecting plenty of adrenaline-filled moments that will test your limits – but rest assured that you are in the capable hands of expert guides who will steer you through the various moderate to difficult rapids safely.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Rollicking trip down the raging Padas River

  • Your journey begins with a 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours road journey from Kota Kinabalu city to the Beaufort Railway Station, where you will board an antique train to Pangi Station, the start of the river excursion.
  • Along the way, you will pass through scenic countryside and villages.
  • The rafting or kayaking trip takes approximately 2 hours and covers 10km of the 200km long river, during which you will encounter large waves and 8 powerful but predictable rapids that have amusing names like Head Hunter, Cobra, ScoobyDoo, Snake House, BBQ Rapids, Washing Machine, Lambada, and Merry-go-Round.
  • At the end of the excursion, relax and recuperate by the riverside with a delicious lunch. After lunch, hop on the train back to Beaufort.

Important Notes:

  • All participant are required to sign a liability/waiver form before the tour begins.
  • Children below the age of 12 year old are strictly NOT permitted to participate in the Padas White Water Rafting.
  • The company reserves the right to change venue if condition are beyond our control.
  • Participants must have trimmed finger nails and toe nails.
  • No jewelries and valuable items allowed to be worn (or brought along) during these activities.
  • It is necessary to provide a list of participant’s name, age, gender and nationality upon reservation for insurance purposes. All information provided by guest will be treated private and confidential as strictly as possible by ECHO Adventures.
  • Photography of the tour is available upon request. (Guest are required to pay directly during the tour)

Terms and Conditions:

  • All bookings are subject to availability at the time of booking. Reservation should be made at least at 9 pm, one day before the tour date.
  • Cancellation less than 24 hours or No Show is subject to 100% cancellation fee.
  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances, making it impossible to conduct the tour, we reserve the right to change to another tour or cancel at our absolute discretion. In such eventuality, no resource or claims shall be made against ECHO Adventures.
